Hello. I have an occasional gambling problem. Once in a while, I overdo it and lose control.
What is problem gambling?
Over the past few years, games of chance have become more popular and visible. People have different reasons for gambling, but in general, they simply try their luck from time to time in hopes of winning.
Even if they do not win, they still have fun. For the most part, games of chance are just a fun source of entertainment. However, about 2% of gamblers have problems with gambling.
People who have gambling problems feel a compulsion to play. Gambling is an all-consuming passion for them—and a serious problem. It can wreck their finances, family life, and health and do great harm to their loved ones.
How do you know when gambling is becoming a problem? What are the warning signs? What are the consequences?
This section will help you detect when gambling becomes a problem and understand the impacts for gamblers and their friends and families.
