Mandate of Gambling: Help and Referral Advisory Committee
As agreed between Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) and the Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montreal, a volunteer advisory committee was set up to advise the Centre’s management on its mission to help Quebecers through an information, helpline on problem gambling.
For Gambling: Help and Referral to better assist people struggling with a gambling problem, the committee members agree to share information and expertise with the Centre’s management team in the following areas:
- Research on pathological gambling, its consequences, and current therapeutic approaches
- Development of training for counsellors and volunteers
- Improvements to methods and approaches of referrals used by the service
- Relationships to develop and maintain with various resources in the field
- Content development of the database used by counsellors
- Development of Gambling: Help and Referral and its impact
- Upon management request, other relevant subjects related to the quality of assistance that Gambling: Help and Referral provides to people in distress
Two meetings are held each year.
